The Mission and Purpose Statement for the Boonville United Methodist Church
(developed by the Discipleship Task Force February 2019)

To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world…

Love first so that we can Worship God so that we can  Nurture one another so that we can Serve as we are called so that we can
make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic
all worship services and
small group gatherings are POSTPONED
until further notice.
Please stay safe and healthy and may you always feel the unmistakable peace and presence of the Holy Spirit as
we hold each other in prayer.
The Lord is near.
Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks.
Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5b-7 CEB
Grace and peace to you all in the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus
said in John 14:27,
“Peace is what I leave you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it
 as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”
 And Psalm 55:22; “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you;
He will never let the righteous fall.”

Brothers and sisters –
I wanted to reach out to you and give you some updates so that we can stay informed and connected in this time of isolation.
First let me thank you all for your support and prayers during this time, many of you have reached out to Penny and I and we really appreciate the words of encouragement – Penny is considered an essential worker – the banks have to remain open – the lobbies are closed to foot traffic and all transactions are done through the drive through window. She is very thankful that she is able to keep working even during this economic shutdown. Also I want to say thank you to all of you who tuned into our Facebook live broadcast on Sunday – I will be doing that again this Sunday, March 29 at 10:00 am – more on that later.
General Conference postponed;
Many of you may have heard rumors that GC2020 was being postponed, unfortunately that is true – I received an update last evening from the GC Commission and they have decided to postpone until sometime in 2021 – dates have yet to be set. This is a bit of a disappointment as we have done so much work already to move from where we are to where God wants us to be – however this does give us more time to discern and pray about our future and it lifts some of the weight off of us as we begin to emerge from the social distancing and the effects that has caused, some of which have yet to be revealed – I remind you – Gods Got This! As I receive more information about this I will pass it on – as of right now there has been no decision made about our Annual Conference scheduled for the end of May.
Helping Hands Food Pantry;
We are isolated from each other that is true, but there are still things we can do for each other and for others who need our help especially in this time of economic uncertainty. One of those things we can do is to help make sure our area families and seniors have enough food to feed themselves. With that in mind, Crystal and I decided the best way we could help is for only one of us to be in the office, Crystal is considered an essential employee for various reasons, but in this case because she manages the Helping Hands Food Pantry located at the church. She wants to put together some food baskets for those who may be in need at this time – how can you help? Give her a call at the office 315-942-2626 to see what she is most in need of and if you know of someone, perhaps yourself that could use some help – items can be safely dropped off outside the church during office hours only please, and please call her and let her know you are doing so – hours are Tuesday-Thursday 9:30-3:30 – please do not drop off anything during off hours, we cannot guarantee their safety – call ahead, make sure someone is at the church to bring the items inside – also monetary gifts are appreciated as well – make checks payable to Helping Hands Food pantry and mail to 105 Ann St, Boonville, NY 13309. Thank you for anything you can do at this time.
Next Facebook Live;
I invite you once again to join me live on Facebook on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 10:00 am – I am taking a one-week break from The I Am series – we will hopefully be able to go back to them for Palm Sunday and Easter – pray that we can be together by then. This Sunday’s theme is yet to be determined. I appreciate those of you who have given me feedback and I am addressing those things that I can control – for instance – I was told the window behind me is not my friend – so I will be moving to another part of the office to broadcast, some of our young disciples asked about the children’s time – it will be included this week. The one thing I haven’t figured out yet is that some of you mentioned that the video was “clitchy” or jumpy – I will be doing what I can to tweak the settings, hopefully I can figure it out, it may be out of my control. Thank you for your understanding and patience – and more importantly your prayers.
Please remember your church;
During this time it is so important to remember your church in your prayers; she has been placed in an unprecedented situation. Our prayers and monetary support will help her continue her ministry and mission in the local community and around the world – she is counting on us to do our part – pray for her and remember to give generously with your tithes and offerings. (the mailing address is listed above)
Again, brothers and sisters – “The Lord our God is in our midst.” If you any of you need anything, to talk, to pray, to vent. Any questions or concerns – please don’t hesitate to contact me – 315-601-7337.

I remain your faithful servant in Christ,
Pastor Jack Ford
